Hi! I’m Melissa.

I’ve always been fascinated by birth, but it wasn’t until I went through my own perinatal experience that I truly felt called to doula work. Like many, I thought I was doing everything “right” to prepare. I watched the videos, read the books, and spent maaaybe a little too much time on Google looking up everything. But when labour actually began, it was nothing like I imagined. I felt unprepared, powerless, and scared. I started to doubt not only myself, but my body.

Birth plan? Ha! That went out the window real quick.

Then postpartum hit, and dang does she know to throw a good right hook! Just two months before my daughter was born, we moved over three hours away from all my family and friends. Once we brought her home, I felt isolated, overwhelmed, and again, completely unprepared. That chapter taught me just how vital a solid support system is during the fourth trimester, whether it's family, friends, or a doula.

Those experiences lit a fire in me. I knew I had to be part of the birth world. My mission now is to walk alongside birthing people to help them trust themselves and their bodies, and to make sure they never have to feel alone, unprepared, or powerless.
